Saxo Bank

PIT-38 from Saxo Bank: two reports, no ISIN, and amounts with the currency inside

Saxo does not issue one statement. Trades and dividends are two separate reports, and the instrument’s country has to be read out of an exchange code. Below is exactly what our engine reads.

Where to get the files

  1. In the platform open Account → Reports and download Closed Positions for the tax year.
  2. Separately download the Share Dividends report for the same year.
  3. Send both — one alone cannot make a complete return.

What is inside

Two reports instead of a statement
Closed positions feed section C/D, dividends feed section G. Two different files with two different column layouts.
Sheet name in Polish or English
“Zamknięte pozycje” or “Closed Positions”, depending on the platform language.
No ISIN column
The instrument is described by an exchange code such as “NU:xnys”, with no international security identifier.
Dividend amounts with the currency in the text
In the dividend report an amount reads “USD 4.34” — the currency sits inside the field.

Where it goes wrong

Source country must be derived from the exchange code
With no ISIN the country comes from the suffix after the colon: “xnys” is New York, hence the United States. Country drives PIT/ZG and the credit limit — get it wrong and the result changes.
An amount with a currency taken for a number
“USD 4.34” is not a number to a spreadsheet. Summing the column gives zero, and dividends disappear from section G together with the tax withheld at source.
Filing from one report
Closed positions alone is a return without dividends. The dividend report alone is a return without capital gains. Both gaps are silent.

What we compute from it

Shares and ETFs — section C/D
FIFO per account, art. 30b ust. 7.
Dividends — section G
With withholding credited, art. 30a ust. 9.
PIT/ZG by the country behind the exchange code
Country derived from the exchange suffix; where it is doubtful we report it rather than guess.

Questions about Saxo Bank

I only have the closed positions report. Is that enough?

For section C/D, yes. Dividends and foreign withholding come only from the second report — without it you pay the full 19 percent in Poland on income that was already taxed abroad.

The file has no ISIN. Is that a problem?

FIFO needs only the ticker and the account. The issue is the country for PIT/ZG — we derive it from the exchange code, and where the code is unusual we report the gap instead of inventing a country.
