Revolut
PIT-38 from Revolut: seven different export formats
Revolut has no single export. Our engine recognises seven — and they differ not in column names but in what they contain at all. Picking the wrong file is the commonest reason a return does not work out.
Which file to download
- For shares and ETFs: Invest → account statement for the whole year, as CSV.
- For crypto: Crypto → Account Statement, also CSV.
- The annual summary (“Tax Statement”, “Profit and Loss”) is NOT enough — see below.
- If you sold something bought earlier, download those years too.
How the formats differ
- Invest — transaction level
- Date, ticker, type, quantity, price, amount, currency and rate. This is what a return needs.
- Tax Statement — annual summary
- A multi-section file with no single header. It carries the result but not the trades.
- Crypto Statement — a separate world
- Crypto has no ISIN and no country. It goes to section E/F, not C/D, under different rules.
- Capital Gains Report — pairs already matched
- Each row is a finished buy-sell pair with the result computed. Convenient, but someone else did the matching and it cannot be checked.
- Profit & Loss PDF — multi-currency
- Separate sections for USD, EUR, GBP and PLN, each with its own sales table.
Where it goes wrong
- The annual summary instead of the history
- The commonest mistake. The summary gives a result but not individual trades — without them there is no FIFO and no way to pick the NBP rate for the right day.
- Crypto is a different part of the return
- Crypto gains go to section E/F, and undeducted costs carry forward with no time limit (art. 22 ust. 14-16), unlike share losses which live five years.
- A savings account is not investing
- Savings interest is a different tax heading from gains on securities. Lumping them together overstates the base.
- Fractions and tiny amounts
- Revolut lets you buy a fraction of a share for a couple of złoty. Rounding such positions breaks the total across dozens of trades.
What we compute from it
- Shares and ETFs — section C/D
- FIFO per account, art. 30b ust. 7.
- Crypto — section E/F
- Undeducted costs carried with no time limit, art. 22 ust. 14-16.
- Dividends — section G
- With withholding credited, art. 30a ust. 9.
Run this once
claude mcp add --transport http taxroam https://taxroam.com/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer $TAXROAM_KEY"Where this export usually goes wrong
- Crypto
- A December purchase left out because “it isn’t sold yet”
- FIFO per account
- One shared pile across all accounts
- The NBP rate
- The trade-date rate
Questions about Revolut
I hold shares and crypto. One file or two?
Two: Invest and Crypto are separate exports. They also go to separate parts of the return, so they must not be merged.
I got a “Tax Statement”. Is that enough?
No. It is an annual summary without individual trades. The statement with history is what allows FIFO and the right-day rate.
